Major General Susil Chandrapala RWP RSP VSV USP ndu psc
Major General Susil Chandrapala joined Sri Lanka Army as an Officer Cadet in 1971. After his initial military training at Sri Lanka Military Academy, Diyathalawa, he was posted to Field Engineer Regiment in 1972 as a Second Lieutenant. He retired in 2005 after 34 years of distinguished service.
During his Illustrious military career, He Commanded 6 field Engineer Regiment, 5 Brigade, 17 Brigade, 11 Division, 55 Division and 56 Divisions in the North & East. He was also appointed as the Commander Engineer Brigade, Security Force Commander Wanni and Security Force Jaffna.
During latter stages of his career, before retirement he served as the Colonel Commandant of Commando Regiment , Colonel Commandant of Engineer Regiment, Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force and the Deputy Chief of Staff at Sri Lanka Army Headquarters.
Major General Chandrapala is an Alumni of Armed forces Staff College - Kuala Lumpur, Malysia, National Defense University- Beijing, China, Center for Strategic Studies for Near East and South Asia – Washington USA, and a member of the Regional Center for Strategic Studies in Sri Lanka.
He is a recipient of Rana Wickrama Padakkama (RWP), Rana Soora Padakkama (RSP), Visishta Seva Vibhushanaya (VSV), and Uththama Seva Padakkama (USP)
He is a long-standing member of the Association of Retired Flag Rank Officers (ARFRO) since year 2007. Served as the Secretary for 04 years and Executive Committee Member before being appointed as the President in 2026.
