The 24th AGM of ARFRO was held on 07th May 2022 at the RHQ SLEME Officers’ Mess at Slave Island with a presence of 45 members. The AGM commenced at 1100 when the President called the meeting to order, the National Anthem sung, and the ceremonial oil lamp lit. All present paid tribute to the fallen heroes. The names of those who passed over the last three years were read and two minutes of silence was observed.
The main item under discussion was taking up amendments to the constitution. It had been studied by a team of legal consultants who had been co-opted for the matter, along with the Secretary. All salient points were tabled by the Secretary and the amendments were adopted.
At the Elections thereafter, the treasurer Brig K Gnanaweera who had held that post for a long period, gave way to Maj Gen M C S Perera. Similarly, Maj Gen Dr. K D P Perera who held the position of Chairman RFCSS also handed over the reins to Surgeon R Adm N E L W Jayasekera.
The AGM was followed by a splendid time of fellowship among members and lunch thereafter.
