Biography of ARFRO founder President the late General Deshamanya J E D Perera VSV D Litt FCMI FIM (SL) ndc, psc titled “Gen Denis- The Epitome of Leadership” an exceptional journey of an outstanding soldier, visionary & diplomat which left an indelible signature on the development of the Sri Lanka Army in particular and the Armed Services in general was launched on 29 th September 2018 at INNSL auditorium at Battaramulla.
Hon Ruwan Wjewardane MP, Minister of State for Defence graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Commander of the Army, Lt Gen Mahesh Senanayake, Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Sirimevan Ranasinghe, many other past service commanders, retired Flag Rank Officers of Armed Forces along with their spouses, altogether a total of 450 guests, were present at this historical event .
Mrs Ranjini Perera, beloved wife of General Denis Perera, along with three sons & many close relatives of late General were also present.
Mr H M G S Palihakkara, former Governor Northern Province, Foreign Secretary & Ambassador delivered the key note address. Mr M D D Peiris who was former Secretary to the Prime Minister states in his forward to the Biography that the book should not only be read by military officers but those holding executive positions in the public & private sectors would also find immense value from it. The greatest value would be derived from the manifest demonstration as exemplified in General Denis Perera’s life, that hard work, fairness, rectitude, the rejection of soft options, the observance of principles, and judgement based on a strict calculus of merit, with no favours could evoke such admiration, respect and indeed affection.
Maj Gen Lohan Goonewardene (Retd), Vice President - ARFRO functioned as Chairman of the Steering Committee of this event.
