On 31st January 2025, a delegation from the Association of Retired Flag Rank Officers (ARFRO), led by its President, paid a courtesy call on the Commander of the Sri Lanka Army at Army Headquarters, Akuregoda. The delegation comprised the Immediate Past President , the two current Vice Presidents, and the Association’s Secretary.
The visit formed part of ARFRO’s continuing efforts to maintain meaningful engagement with the leadership of the tri-services, while reinforcing the enduring bonds between retired senior officers and the serving military leadership.
The cordial meeting provided a valuable opportunity to exchange views on areas of mutual interest, including the role of retired senior officers in supporting national development and contributing to the broader defence discourse. The ARFRO delegation shared insights into the Association’s ongoing initiatives, future plans, and its commitment to the well-being of its members, while also expressing appreciation for the continued cooperation extended by the Sri Lanka Army.
The Commander of the Army warmly welcomed the delegation and conveyed his deep respect for the service rendered by retired flag rank officers. He also acknowledged the significance of ARFRO’s role in preserving institutional memory and offering valuable perspectives that could contribute to national security thinking and professional development.
