The 22 nd AGM of ARFRO was held on 25th May 2018 at the RHQ SLCMP Officers’ Mess at Narahenpita with presence of 65 members. The AGM commenced at 1800 hrs & there were 40 letters/notices submitted by the members requesting to excuse them from AGM. ACM Paddy Mendis was the senior most & there were many other Past Service Commanders of Defence Forces present. Annual Report of the Executive Committee for year 2016/17 was tabled by the President ARFRO who explained the salient points & later circulated among the participants.
President ARFRO highlighted that during the year under review (2017–2018), ARFRO was able to take great strides to ensure its success in years to come. The Association asserted itself as a professional organisation and was able to realise its goals in several fields and even go beyond. The Secretary Defence in recognition of the efforts made by ARFRO Main Service Project,RFCSS, to bring relief to our war widows and their families decided to provide a substantial grant from MOD funds to redouble ARFRO efforts
Ranaviru Family Counselling and Support Services (RFCSS) has made great strides and won the accolades of benefactors and philanthropists and the Government Agencies. ARFRO was able to grant scholarships to deserving children of war widows and also those who entered University.
ARFRO journal was available to the membership on payment & untiring effort of the editor Brig Rohan Jayasinghe (Retd) was highly appreciated. ARFRO membership now stands at 230 which clearly indicates the recognition gained through many activities/projects. Brig K A Gnanaweera (Retd), Treasurer, submitted the accounts & audited statement for the year & carried out a detail analysis of financial status after which accounts were adopted by the house
Election of Office Bearers & Committee members was conducted & the President clarified the position regarding nominations for the Ex-Co and stated that according to para 5 of the Constitution, the out - going Ex-Co was required to nominate persons for the new Ex-Co and the general membership given opportunity to nominate their choices, proposing and seconding nominations in writing, to be sent to the Hony. Secretary by the specified date, using the forms circulated along with the notice of AGM
President requested ACM Paddy Mendis to take the Chair as Chairman Protem. The house unanimously accepted the nominations. The AGM was concluded by president inviting all present for the fellowship and dinner
