    The General Deshamanya Denis Perera Oration 2023 was conducted in the usual grand manner at the auditorium of the Faculty of Graduate Studies of the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University in Ratmalana. This time, the ninth in the series, was held on 15th september 2023.

  • ARFRO Get-together on 12th August 2023

    Generally, ARFRO organizes get-togethers for its membership with an aim to enhance the esprit de corps and comradeship by creating an opportunity for the members to meet each other, build their rapport and network. In a year, minimum of two get-togethers are organized and locations for such get-togethers have always been military establishments. Accordingly, on the 12th August 2023, ARFRO organized an “ARFRO Get-together” at the Western Naval Command Wardroom (SLNS Rangalla) with the participation of nearly 140 members.

  • ARFRO Members’ Get-Together

    ARFRO members had a rollicking time on 25th March 2023 when the first family get together for the year 2023 was held at the Regimental Officer’s Mess of Sri Lanka Electrical & Mechanical Engineers at Kumaran Ratnam Road, Slave Island. The evening was given an added spot of importance by the presence of the Secretary Defence, the Army Commander and his beautiful lady, and the Navy Commander.

  • 8th General Deshamanya Denis Perera Oration

    This annual event could not be held since 2019 due to the aftermath of the Pandemic and unstable situation in the country. The event which is generally held on 11th August every year, had to be postponed to 25th November 2022. General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil was the orator on this occasion. He delivered a speech under the title ‘Dealing with the Dynamics of Conflicts’. A large gathering of ARFRO members, distinguished invitees including family members of the late General that graced this 8th Oration appreciated a well delivered presentation.

  • Visit to Defence Headquarters Complex

    On an invitation received, the ARFRO Executive Committee grabbed an opportunity to visit the brand new Defence Headquarters Complex. They were met by the Commander of the Army and briefed of activities taking place at the Multi-Function Auditorium, followed by a tour round the complex.

  • ARFRO Get-together on 25th September 2022

    This event too which is generally held to enhance fellowship and camaraderie of members could not be staged over the last three years due to unfavourable conditions in the country. The last attempt was scrapped at the eleventh hour virtually. However, the Organizing committee with determination that a memorable event will be held, went on to create an enjoyable atmosphere at the Air Force Mess at Thunmulla on 25th September. The occasion was graced by the Defence Secretary, the Chief of Defence Staff and the three serving Commanders of the Army, Navy and Air Force. The Air Force Officers’ mess was almost bursting at its seams with a gathering of almost hundred heads of people.
